Measurement For The Bed Skirts

Vintage Bed Skirts

Bed Skirts – A measured bed skirt or skirt adds a finished look to a bedroom. The bed skirt can be made of fabric that coordinates with a quilt, quilt, pillowcases, or curtains, or it can be made of neutral fabric. Bed edges are not hard to make, but the secret to success lies in an accurate measurement.

Measure the length and width of the top of the mattress. (For example, the average full-size bed measures 54 inches by 75 inches.) This measure will guide you in the preparation of a flat piece of fabric that will go between the mattress and the bed frame. The length and width of the upper planar section also determine how wide the pieces of the hive should be. A bed skirt requires two side pieces and one piece for the foot of the bed. Multiply each measurement by two for a very full collected flyer or by a multiplication of the hive gently picked up for a year and a half.

Measure from the floor to the top of the spring box to see how long to make the bed skirt. The standard sizes are 15, 18 and 21 inches, but with a custom-made bed skirt, unusual heights (also called drops) can be easily accommodated. Add an inch and a half to each edge of the fabric that was joined vertically. Usually, the skirt of the bed is divided and hem on each corner of the bed to accommodate the messages and stirrups.
